These are pictures of Khiva, another Silk Road city in Western Uzbekistan, Central Asia, photographed back in 1978. The colors of the ORWO slide film were very faded, so when posting the original version of this page, back in 2012, I decided to convert the images to monochrome.
Just recently, in 2018, I tried to postprocess my original scans again, this time with better results. Perhaps the software I'm using now is smarter, or maybe I've learned a few new tricks in the last twelve years — whatever the reason, the images are more presentable now, especially given their age.
So, have a look at Khiva.
