Depth of Field Tables

for cameras using 1/1.7" sensors

These are DOF tables applicable to any cameras using the 1/1.7" sensor size.

The focusing distance as shown is measured from the lens entrance pupil, not from the image plane. The difference may be meaningful at shortest focal distances.

The focal length equivalence ratio used in calculations was 4.80, and the diameter of circle of confusion — 0.00625 mm (which is equivalent to 0.03 mm on a 35-mm film camera).

I believe that the usually published sensor size describes the whole area, not just its part defining the captured image; this is why I prefer to derive the numbers myself. My newer estimate of that ratio is 4.67; the 2.5% difference can be safely ignored.

For each focal length and aperture combination, the hyperfocal distance (HD) is also given.
